Background information

The John Cunningham virus (JCV) is a widespread human polyomavirus with homology to BK polyomavirus (BKV). Primary JCV infection results in asymptomatic latent persistence of the virus in the gastrointestinal tract and the kidney. Immunodeficiency or immunosuppression allows virus reactivation, which can cause, e.g., a fatal progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy. VP1 is the major capsid protein expressed late in the lytic cycle. It is described to induce T cell immunity.

GMP PepTivator JCV VP1 causes the production of the effector cytokine IFN-gamma. This product has not yet been tested in conjunction with the CliniMACS Cytokine Capture System (IFN-gamma).
