Cells were incubated with an excess of purified unconjugated Cytokeratin 8 (REA885) antibody followed by staining with fluorochrome-conjugated antibodies of other known clones against the same marker. Based on the fluorescence signal obtained, the clones were identified as recognizing completely overlapping (++), partially overlapping (+), or completely different epitopes (-) of the marker.

Overview

Clone REA885 recognizes the human type II keratin protein cytokeratin 8, an intermediate filament protein, which is found in epithelial and carcinoma cells. In adult tissues cytokeratin 8 is expressed as a heterodimer with cytokeratin 18.
Keratins play a critical role in mechanical stability and integrity of epithelial cells and tissues, have regulatory functions, and are involved in intracellular signaling pathways.
Additional information: Clone REA885 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.
