Specifications for Neurofilament Antibody, anti-human/mouse, REAfinity™

Overview

Clone REA1127 recognizes the 68 kDa component of the polypeptide subunit of human Neurofilament. Under certain conditions, an additional 200 kDa band could be detected. It is not confirmed, if this is in fact a multimer of the 68 kDa protein.
Neurofilament belongs to the intermediate filament family. Neurofilament is a major component of the neuronal cytoskeleton and a useful marker for distinguishing neurons (which are positive for Neurofilament) from glia. It is found in several neural, neuroendocrine, and endocrine tumors, but also in carcinomas of skin and lung and paragangliomas and adrenal and extra-adrenal pheochromocytomas. REA1127 does not recognize GFAP, keratin, vimentin and desmin or small cell lung carcinoma.
Additional information: Clone REA1127 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.
