Background information

Interleukin-2 (IL-2) is a T cell-derived cytokine known to promote growth and differentiation of T cells and to have pleiotropic effects on many other leukocytes. Upon activation, naive T helper cells and certain subsets of memory T cells rapidly secrete IL-2.

Downstream applications

The IL-2 Secretion Assay has been developed for detection and isolation of IL-2-secreting T cells after antigen-specific stimulation. IL-2 Secretion Assay has been used to analyze IL-2-secreting CMV-specific CD4

T cells after stimulation with CMV lysate.
