Cells were incubated with an excess of purified unconjugated TCR Vδ2 (123R3) antibody followed by staining with fluorochrome-conjugated antibodies of other known clones against the same marker. Based on the fluorescence signal obtained, the clones were identified as recognizing completely overlapping (++), partially overlapping (+), or completely different epitopes (-) of the marker.

The antibody clone 123R3 reacts with the Vδ2 TCR chain on human Vγ9Vδ2 T cells, which are the major γ/δ T cell subset in humans. Activated Vδ2 T lymphocytes display strong cytotoxicity against various tumor cells and produce a number of cytokines, including TNF-α and IFN-γ.
