The MultiMACS™ X is a high-throughput cell separation instrument for laboratories requiring fully automated processing of high sample numbers or large sample volumes. It autonomously carries out all necessary steps of the separation process, including sample dilution, labeling, separation, and elution of separated fractions. Through parallel processing and full automation, optimum cell separation is accomplished in a reproducible and standardized manner – ideal for high-throughput routine cell isolations.

MultiMACS X

MultiMACS Cell24 Separator Plus Technology

Based on the semi-automated MultiMACS Technology, the MultiMACS X provides full automation by integrating the MultiMACS Cell24 Separator Plus with a liquid handler.

Liquid handling

Conductive disposable pipette tips are used for sample, buffer, and reagent transfer, as well as mixing steps and volume detection.

Sample handling

Up to 24 samples can be processed in one run. Precooled sample Chill Racks maintain samples at 4°C for maximum cell viability.

Reagent handling

Reagent barcode scanning and precooled Chill Racks for up to 12 MicroBead vials enable fully automated magnetic labeling and cell isolation with hundreds of options of different MACS Reagents.

Worktable

Designed for high-throughput cell isolation, the MultiMACS X worktable enables easy and fast loading of samples, reagents, disposable tips, and other consumables, like Deep Well Plates.

Waste chute

Used pipette tips are collected in a plastic bag for easy and contamination-free disposal.

Safety panel

The instrument is equipped with sensor-controlled door locks for user safety. For full sterility, the instrument can be enclosed in a customized laminar flow cabinet for user and product safety.

Interactive graphical user interface (GUI)

The intuitive and easy-to-use software guides the user through the loading and unloading steps for each run, as well as maintenance routines and service procedures.

Column handling

Up to 12 LS, LD, or Whole Blood Columns can be processed in one run using the LHS Single Column Adapter, or up to 24 samples conveniently using the Multi-24 Column Block.

Applications

Preinstalled base applications

Base applications are available for key cell isolation workflows. They are installed as default applications on the instrument and are ready to use. 

These applications include the direct isolation of selected target cells from main blood sources (Leukopak®, Whole Blood, and Buffy Coat) with the StraightFrom® MicroBead portfolio, untouched isolation from PBMCs with MACS Isolation Kits, human, and positive selections from PBMCs with MACS MicroBeads

The most common immune cell types (e.g. T cells, B cells, monocytes, and NK cells) are included in these base applications.

Customized processes for automated high-throughput cell separation on the MultiMACS X are developed and validated to match your needs perfectly and to ensure any cell separation specification can be fulfilled. 

This approach enables integration of additional steps, such as sample aliquoting.
