DRAQ7 Staining Solution is a far-red DNA stain which is cell impermeable and intercalates double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) of dead and permeabilized cells. The fluorescence emission maximum for dsDNA-bound DRAQ7 is 694 nm. With an broad excitation band with maxima at 599 and 644 nm it can be excited efficiently by red (635 nm) and yellow (561 nm) lasers, and suboptimally by blue (488 nm) lasers.
DRAQ7 is very stable at room temperature and in ambient light with a low photobleaching characteristic. Moreover, it is compatible with buffers in physiological pH range.
The dye can be used for the exclusion of dead and apoptotic cells.
