Our lab studies NK cell activity in the context of HIV infection and use purified NK cells from human PBMC. This kit provides reliable isolation of NK cells from this cell source.
Our laboratory investigates ways to improve immune responses against HIV, including enhancement of the capacity of NK cells to kill HIV-infected cell. For these studies we set up in vitro ADCC assays with NK cells against infected target cells. As such, we need to purify NK cells and the CD56+ CD16+ selection kit isolates this population at a high purity via a two step process, first depleting all non-NK cells, and then enriching for the CD56 and CD16 positive cells.
We used this kit in experiments where we were investigating Fc mediated functions of NK cells in the context of HIV infection. For this we needed to isolate NK cells from human PBMCs. This kit was used and consistently resulted in high purity and yield of human NK cells.
