July 9–13, 2022 | Paris, France
Join us at the FENS Forum 2022 in Paris to learn more about our products for neuroscience!
Drop by booth #45, say hello, and let us introduce you to our product highlights of the year that will boost your neuroscience research. Check out our instruments for 3D light imaging and ultra high content imaging, or, if single cells are more your thing, discover our products for gentle tissue dissociation and cell isolation. See you there!
Brain development is a complex process that involves a myriad of signaling molecules and any disturbance can lead to irreversible abnormalities or disorders. Preterm birth is one of the most common causes of neurodevelopmental disorders grouped under the term encephalopathy of prematurity (EoP).
Inflammation plays a key role in EoP, especially by targeting immature oligodendrocytes. Disruption of oligodendrocyte differentiation can cause myelination defects resulting in diffuse white matter injury (WMI), a typical hallmark of EoP. Using a mouse model of WMI induced by intraperitoneal injections of proinflammatory cytokine interleukin-1β, we have contributed to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the development of this pathology. By carefully investigating the impact of inflammation in microglia and oligodendrocytes at several postnatal stages, we identified the WNT pathway and miR-146b as modulators of microglial activation1,2 and highlighted unexpected roles of immune related pathways in immature oligodendrocytes3,4.
Discover how Miltenyi’s products for neuroscience can help investigate the complexities of the brain. Learn about the cellular analysis workflow for dissociation and analysis of single cells, in addition to high resolution 3D imaging insights with the UltraMicroscope Blaze™; two ways to gain a holistic understanding of neuroscience.

Lecturer in toxicology, Université Paris Cité
Speaker information
Anne-Laure Schang graduated 2011 at the Université Paris Diderot, where she studied the expression of the gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor. She then continued as a postdoc in the group of Pierre Gressens and later on Valérie Mezger to work on mechanisms leading to white matter injury in a mouse model of encephalopathy of prematurity. Now she is a lecturer at the Université Paris Cité, where she investigates the impacts of early exposure to bisphenol A on oligodendrocyte differentiation and myelination.
Global Product Manager Neuroscience, Miltenyi Biotec
Speaker information
Elisa Nent joined Miltenyi Biotec as a Global Product Manager for Neuroscience in 2020. Before, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg, Germany, where she studied the migration of microglia. Elisa originally comes from the Bonn-Cologne area, where she also completed her studies and obtained her Ph.D. in the field of neuroscience.
Global Product Manager Light Sheet Microscopy, Miltenyi Biotec
Speaker information
Luigi is the Product Manager for light sheet microscopy at Miltenyi Biotec, Bergisch Gladbach, Germany. He has his PhD in Neuroscience from the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (2017-2021).
