What is the exact size of MACS MicroBeads?

MACS MicroBeads are around 50 nm in diameter. This is approximately the size of a virus. The MicroBeads do not interfere with visible light, and thus allow the analysis of both positive and negative fractions of a cell separation in a standard flow cytometer. The MACS MicroBeads can be seen using electron microscopy on thin sections and can also be detected by NMR. The small size of the MACS MicroBeads is the reason for their unique physical properties.
