How can the autoMACS Pro Separator be decontaminated to remove LPS (lipopolysaccharide) or special pathogens?

We recommend using sodium hydroxide (NaOH). Note that the NaOH decontamination protocol is not part of the usual cleaning routine, and this procedure should only be used for special indications such as decontaminating the autoMACS Pro Separator to remove LPS or special pathogens.

We have tested a cleaning procedure with up to 0.5M NaOH, because NaOH has been reported to not only remove protein, fat, and nucleic acids, but also to inactivate most viruses, bacteria, yeast, and endotoxins. Please contact your local technical support team to receive detailed information and the protocol.
