Background information

The isolation of high-purity total RNA from distinct hematopoietic cell populations is laborious and costly to achieve. This is especially true for rare and immunologically relevant cell populations such as hematopoietic CD34

progenitor cells or regulatory T cells (CD4
+
CD25
+
). Using the cell-type specific total RNAs, there is no need to collect large pools of blood and to separate the desired cell population. Each cell-type specific total RNA is derived from different hematopoietic cell populations and ready-to-use for gene expression profiling experiments, cloning of target genes, or as a reference for further analyses. Thus, differences in gene expression in various cell types can be revealed. Moreover, using the total RNAs as reference allows a comparison between treated cell culture or patient samples and untreated or healthy samples.
