Owl – Operations Manager – Santa Barbara, CA

Owl biomedical, Inc. is actively developing and commercializing microchip-based cell sorting systems that are changing the world of cell therapy and cancer diagnostics. We are breaking new ground with features and capabilities to make cell sorting easier and more reliable for our customers.

To support this effort, we are seeking an Operations Manager to manage the operational functions in the manufacturing of the company’s core medical instruments.  Within this role, you will be responsible for the manufacturing assembly and test processes and to continuously improve processes through developing and implementing modifications in order to achieve optimal efficiency for manufacturing operations. Overall, your keen ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team to lead and advance product development efforts will champion the continued success of Owl biomedical.

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the manufacturing assembly and test processes for Owl’s cell sorting instruments.
  • Leads the team in solving problems, meeting ongoing production demand, and determining root cause of technical issues.
  • Strives to continuously improve processes through developing and implementing modifications in order to achieve optimal efficiency for manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain centralized data collection for Quality systems.
  • Major objectives may include: product cost reduction efforts, designing processes to improve manufacturing operational efficiency, optimize product design, qualify replacement components, improve product quality and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Create assembly documentation and develops and implements production tooling, test fixtures, and equipment.
  • Promotes a safe work environment.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in ME, EE, IE, IT or a related field; 3-5 years of experience in a high tech manufacturing environment or medical device manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Must have excellent interpersonal skills including conflict resolution, negotiation, and the ability to work in a team environment
