Manufacturing adherent cells, such as pluripotent stem cells (PSC) and their derivatives or mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC), to GMP standards is a challenging endeavor. It involves many open handling steps and requires multiple devices, high-class cleanrooms, and well-trained operators, which can compromise reproducibility and significantly increase manufacturing costs. Relying on our widely used CliniMACS Prodigy® Cell Manufacturing Platform, we have developed the Adherent Cell Culture System. It automates GMP-compliant stem cell expansion and differentiation processes in a closed and scalable system. 

In this virtual demo, you will learn:

  • How to use the flexible modules to build up customized cell manufacturing processes.
  • How to connect external culture vessels in a closed and sterile manner to increase cultivation scales.
  • How the system enables expansion of PSCs and MSCs, and directed PSC differentiation.
     

There will be time for questions and discussion after the 45 min presentation.

About the presenter

Chao performed his PhD projects at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, China, and then continued his Postdoc studies at the University of Bonn and the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases in Bonn, Germany, focusing on cell fate (re)programming. Chao joined Miltenyi Biotec as a Product Manager for the Regenerative Medicine portfolio in 2018. He and his colleagues are developing automated, closed, and scalable adherent stem cell cultivation technologies based on the widely used CliniMACS Prodigy® Cell Manufacturing Platform.
