Clone REA239 recognizes the human CD210 antigen, a 90–110 kDa protein, which is also known as IL-10 receptor (IL-10R) alpha subunit. CD210 is expressed on various cell types like monocytes, B cells, large granular lymphocytes, and T cells. The IL-10R protein is structurally related to interferon receptors. Functional IL-10R complexes are tetramers consisting of two IL-10Rα polypeptide chains and two IL-10Rβ chains. Binding of IL-10 to the extracellular domain of IL-10Rα activates the IL-10 signal transduction pathway by inducing phosphorylation of STAT1a and STAT3 and by inducing activation of Jak1 and Tyk. IL-10R has been shown to mediate the immunosuppressive signal of interleukin 10, and thus inhibits the synthesis of proinflammatory cytokines.
Additional information: Clone REA239 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.
