Clone REA225 recognizes mouse CD144, which is also known as cadherin 5 or vascular endothelial cadherin (VE-Cadherin). This calcium-dependent cell–cell adhesion glycoprotein is composed of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region and a highly conserved cytoplasmic tail. CD144 is a strictly endothelial specific adhesion molecule located at junctions between endothelial cells and is of vital importance for the maintenance and control of endothelial cell contacts. Mechanisms that regulate VE-cadherin–mediated adhesion are important for the control of vascular permeability and leukocyte extravasation. CD144 also regulates various cellular processes such as cell proliferation and apoptosis and modulates vascular endothelial growth factor receptor functions.
Additional information: Clone REA225 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.
