Extended validation for CD68 Antibody, anti-human

Specificity

Epitope competition
In order to compare the epitope specificity of an antibody, the clone being used is compared with other known clones recognizing the same antigen in a competition assay.
Other clonesOverlap in epitope recognition with Y1/82A
REA886++
Cells were incubated with an excess of purified unconjugated CD68 (Y1/82A) antibody followed by staining with fluorochrome-conjugated antibodies of other known clones against the same marker. Based on the fluorescence signal obtained, the clones were identified as recognizing completely overlapping (++), partially overlapping (+), or completely different epitopes (-) of the marker.

Specifications for CD68 Antibody, anti-human

Overview

The monoclonal antibody Y1/82A reacts with CD68, a 110 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein classified as a lysosomal/endosomal-associated membrane glycoprotein (LAMP) family member. CD68 is highly expressed by human monocytes and tissue macrophages but also found in subpopulations of B cells, fibroblasts, endothelial, and other cells. It is found predominantely in late endosomal and lysosomal compartments, with a modest level of cell surface expression. CD68 is suggested to be involved in phagocytic activities of tissue macrophages, in intracellular lysosomal metabolism, and extracellular cell-cell and cell-pathogen interactions.
