Clone 8C11 recognizes the human and mouse CD325, also known as cadherin-2 or N-cadherin. CD325, an integral adhesion glycoprotein, consists of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a highly conserved cytoplasmic tail. CD325 is a member of cadherins, which are involved in cell adhesion, forming adherens junctions. This is mediated by the extracellular domains of cadherins, whereas the intracellular cytoplasmic tail associates with different adaptor and signaling proteins. The activity of CD325 depends on protein-protein interactions and phosphorylation/dephosphorylation actions.
