Clone REAL468 is an antibody fragment derived from the full Podoplanin antibody molecule. It displays no binding to Fc receptors. The recombinantly engineered antibody fragments are multimerized to form the REAlease Complex to bind markers with high avidity.
Clone REAL468 recognizes the human Podoplanin antigen, a 38 to 44 kDa mucin-type transmembrane protein which is also known as E11, gp38, OTS-8, PA2.26, T1-alpha or Aggrus. Podoplanin has a wide variety of functions including regulation of organ development, cell motility, tumorigenesis and metastasis. It is expressed in multiple tissues during ontogeny and in adult, including the brain, heart, kidney, lungs, osteoblasts, and lymphoid organs. In lymphoid organs it is present in spleen 4 days postnatally. In adult, expression is detected on fibroblastic reticular cells, lymphatic endothelial cells, follicular dendritic cells in lymph node and spleen, and thymic medullary epithelial cells. Tumor cells often upregulate Podoplanin as they undergo epithelial-mesenchymal transition and this upregulation is correlated with increased motility and metastasis.
REAlease Kits consist of the respective fluorochrome-conjugated REAlease Complexes and the REAlease Support Kit for removal of the REAlease Complexes and optional relabeling with different fluorochrome-conjugated REAlease Complexes.
