Quantitative and qualitative analysis of ES and iPS cell culture by flow cytometry

video preview Play video

Stem cells express a number of proteins that are considered to be markers of pluripotency. The differentiation of stem cells or the reprogramming of cells to iPS cells leads to changes in these markers. The – qualitative and quantitative – condition of a stem cell population can therefore be tracked using fluorescently tagged antibodies against these markers and flow cytometry. Sebastian Knöbel, PhD, Senior Project Manager Miltenyi Biotec R&D, shows examples of cell culture monitoring by flow cytometry and explains the critical factors to be considered for a valid analysis.
