Specifications for CD79b Antibody, anti-mouse, REAfinity™

Overview

Clone REA1117 recognizes the mouse CD79b antigen, a 35–40kD single-pass type I membrane protein also known as B cell antigen receptor complex-associated protein beta chain (Igβ chain). The heterodimeric CD79 molecule is composed of an α chain (CD79a) and a β chain (CD79b) and is associated with surface immunoglobulins to form the B cell receptor. The CD79a/CD79b heterodimer facilitates the differentiation of pre–B cells from pro–B cells, surface expression of surface Ig, signal transduction following antigen recognition, and endocytosis of recognized antigens. Crosslinking of CD79b
in vitro
by monoclonal antibodies activates pre–B cells but blocks terminal differentiation of all plasma cell isotypes. It was shown that a combination of CD79a and CD79b monoclonal antibodies can effectively deplete B cells from peripheral blood, spleen, bone marrow, and lymph nodes in mice.
Additional information: Clone REA1117 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.
