Clone REAL846 is an antibody fragment derived from the full CD270 (HVEM) antibody molecule. It displays no binding to Fc receptors. The recombinantly engineered antibody fragments are multimerized to form the REAdye_lease Complex to bind markers with high avidity.

Clone REAL846 recognizes CD270, which is also known as HVEM or TNFRSF14 (Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 14). CD270 derives its name based on the ability of types 1 and 2 herpesvirus gD to bind to it for entry into the cell. CD270 is a type 1 transmembrane protein with a predicted molecular weight of 30 kDa and is a member of TNFR superfamily. CD270 transmits both activating and inhibitory signals for, e.g., interaction with receptors such as BTLA or CD160 attenuates TCR-mediated signaling, whereas interaction with receptor LIGHT allows co-stimulation of T and B cells. Expression of CD270 is widely distributed and is found on hematopoietic cells such as dendritic cells, Tregs, monocytes, neutrophils, NK cells, B cells, and T cells, as well as on non-hematopoietic cells. Lymphomas, malignant melanomas and cases of prostate, colorectal, renal and urothelial cancers displayed moderate to strong cytoplasmic staining.
