Specifications for Rat IFN-γ

Overview

IFN-γ stands for interferon γ. Rat IFN-γ is a recombinant protein optimized for use in cell culture, differentiation studies, and functional assays.

Applications

Rat IFN-γ may be used for a variety of applications, including:
  • Macrophage stimulation to study antimicrobial and anti-tumor effects.
  • In vitro maturation of DCs, e.g., of MDCs to study the influence of HIV-1 infection.

Detailed product information

Background information

Interferon γ (IFN-γ) is a homodimer produced by a variety of immune cells, mainly activated T cells and NK cells. In addition to its antiviral activity, IFN-γ is a potent activator of macrophages, has anti-proliferative effects on transformed cells, and can potentiate the antiviral and antitumor effects of type I interferons. IFN-γ shares 86% amino acid sequence identity with mouse IFN-γ.

Biological activity

  • Inhibition of murine L929 cells

Quality description

Research-grade
cytokines are suitable for a wide variety of cell culture applications. They are sterile-filtered prior to lyophilization. Generally, endotoxin levels are <0.1 ng/μg (<1 EU/μg), and purities are >95%. The biological activity is tested in appropriate bioassays.
