Whole Blood CD8 MicroBeads were developed for rapid positive selection of CD8
+
cells directly from whole blood or bone marrow. No sample preparation is required, including density gradient centrifugation or erythrocyte lysis.

Background information

In whole blood the CD8 antigen is expressed on human cytotoxic T cells and on a subset of CD16
+
NK cells. The CD8 antigen acts as an accessory molecule in the recognition of MHC class I/peptide complexes by the TCR heterodimer on CD8
+
cytotoxic T cells.

Detailed separation procedure

Anticoagulated cell samples of 0.25–15 mL are labeled with StraightFrom
®
Whole Blood CD8 MicroBeads to be subsequently separated with the autoMACS
®
Pro Separator, the MultiMACS™ Cell24 Separator Plus, or using the Whole Blood Column Kit.
