Insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF-2) is a protein that affects growth, differentiation, and survival of cells in a variety of tissues during embryonic development. IGF-2 belongs to the family of insulin-like growth factors, binds to the IGF-1 receptor, and activates the MAPK as well as the PI3K pathway. In addition, IGF2 also induces granulosa cell proliferation during the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle.
