TÜK4 recognizes the human CD14 antigen and cross-reacts with non-human primate CD14. The CD14 antigen is part of the functional heteromeric LPS receptor complex comprised of CD14, TLR4, and MD-2. CD14 is strongly expressed on most human monocytes and macrophages in peripheral blood, other bodily fluids, and in various tissues such as lymph nodes and spleen. CD14 is weakly expressed on subpopulations of human neutrophils and myeloid dendritic cells.

Applications

Reagent can be used for immunophenotyping by flow cytometry. Abnormal numbers of cells expressing this antigen or aberrant expression levels of the antigen can be expected in some disease states. It is important to understand the normal expression pattern for this antigen and its relationship to expression of other relevant antigens in order to perform appropriate analysis.
Expression of CD14 may be used as aid to diagnostic in the characterization of samples from individuals suspected with hematologic neoplasia.
