BW264/56 recognizes the human CD3 antigen which is present on mature human T cells, thymocytes, and a subset of NK cells. CD3 is associated with the T cell receptor (TCR) and is responsible for its signal transduction. The CD3 antigen is a complex of five invariable chains: γ, δ, ε, ζ, and η. The epitope recognized by the antibody is located on the ε-chain of the CD3 complex.

Applications

Reagent can be used for immunophenotyping by flow cytometry. Abnormal numbers of cells expressing this antigen or aberrant expression levels of the antigen can be expected in some disease states. It is important to understand the normal expression pattern for this antigen and its relationship to expression of other relevant antigens in order to perform appropriate analysis.
Expression of CD3 may be used as aid to diagnostic in the characterization of samples from individuals suspected with hematologic neoplasia.
