Clone REA587 recognizes the human CD299 (L-SIGN) antigen, a type II integral membrane protein, also known as C-type lectin domain family 4 member M (CLEC4M) or liver/lymph node-specific ICAM-3-grabbing non-integrin. CD299 is expressed by sinusoidal endothelial cells in lymph nodes and is found in placental endothelium but not in macrophages. It is also expressed in type II alveolar cells and lung endothelial cells. CD299 has a high affinity for both intercellular adhesion molecule 3 (ICAM3) and HIV-1 gp120, and enhances HIV-1 infection of T cells.
Additional information: Clone REA587 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors.
