FGF-19 stands for fibroblast growth factor 19. Human FGF-19 is a recombinant protein optimized for use in cell culture, differentiation studies, and functional assays.


Human FGF-19 can be used for a variety of applications including:
  • In vitro investigation of lipid metabolism end endocrine signals.
  • Investigations of brain development and embryogenesis in murine models.
  • In vivo studies in murine models of the interaction with several tissues, such as gastrointestinal tissues.

Background information

Fibroblast growth factor 19 (FGF-19) is a member of the FGF family, which controls several physiological and pathological development processes, including cell growth, cell survival, and morphogenesis. FGF-19 is involved in neural development and in regulation of metabolic processes in the gastro-intestinal tract, such as synthesis of bile acid, and is investigated as diagnostic marker of metabolic syndromes. FGF-19 is a heparin-binding growth factor and signals exclusively through FGFR4. Mouse FGF-15 is considered to be the ortholog of human FGF-19, sharing 50% of amino acid sequence identity.

Quality description
