Characterization of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from blood, or disseminated tumor cells (DTCs) from bone marrow is important for investigations into the mechanisms of cancer metastasis. The levels of CTCs in a patient’s blood have been linked to patient prognosis and treatment. CTCs/DTCs are very rare so highly sensitive methods are needed to enrich them for downstream morphological staining or molecular analysis.
