Neonatal Heart

One of the most used experimental models in cardiac research is the isolation of vital cardiac cells from neonatal hearts, such as cardiomyocytes or cardiac fibroblasts. The isolation and subsequent culture of cardiomyocytes for biochemical, physiological, pharmacological and morphological studies have an especially high impact in the field of cardiovascular research.
 
The Neonatal Cardiomyocyte Isolation Kit and Neonatal Cardiac Fibroblast Isolation Kit are designed for fast and efficient enrichment of cells from dissociated neonatal mouse hearts.

Adult Heart

Cardiac progenitor cells are of special interest in regenerative medicine, treatment of cardiac ischemia, drug screening, and disease modeling. These cells can be isolated from the myocardium and have been characterized by the expression of stem cell antigen-1 (Sca-1) while lacking expression of CD31. Sca-1+/CD31 cells represent a distinct cardiac progenitor cell population, capable of differentiation into mature cardiomyocytes.

Isolation of Sca-1+/CD31 cells from dissociated murine heart tissue for further downstream analysis or cell culture is made easy with the Cardiac Progenitor Cell Isolation Kit (Sca-1).

ES/iPS cell derived cardiac cells

Differentiation of ES/iPS cells into cardiac cells is a well-established system to study cardiac development or to produce different cardiac cell types for various applications.

The CD309 (Flk-1) MicroBead Kit is developed for isolating CD309 (Flk-1)+ cells from differentiated murine ES or iPS cell cultures. Isolation of CD309+ cells from heterogeneous differentiation cultures can improve differentiation into specific hematopoietic or cardiovascular lineages, e.g., endothelial cells. CD309 is one of the earliest differentiation markers for endothelial and hematopoietic cells. Using mouse embryonic stem cells it has been shown that CD309 is a marker for multipotent cardiovascular progenitor cells that give rise to cardiomyocyte, endothelial, and vascular smooth muscle cell lineages.
