Overview
The CD24 antibody is optimized for the detection of CD24 expressing cells from single-cell suspensions from solid tissue or cell lines by flow cytometry or fluorescent microscopy. The CD24 antibody can be used, for example, to differentiate CD44+CD24- breast cancer stem cells from CD24+ expressing cells from a primary tumor sample.

Background information The human CD24 antigen is also known as heat-stable antigen (HSA). CD24 has been identified to be a negative marker for breast cancer stem cells1 and a positive marker for ovarian2 or pancreatic cancer stem cells.3 |

Figure 1
CD24+ cells from peripheral blood were stained with CD24 antibodies conjugated to FITC (A) or PE (B) or APC (C) and analyzed by flow cytometry using the MACSQuant® Analyzer. CD24+ cells from the CML cell line K562 were stained with CD24-PE (D) and analyzed by flow cytometry using the MACSQuant® Analyzer. As seen in the histogram the expression levels vary from CD24low to CD24high. Cell debris and dead cells were excluded from the analysis based on scatter signals and propidium iodide fluorescence.
