| CD117 MicroBeads have been developed for the positive selection of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells from mouse bone marrow or differentiated embryonic stem cell cultures1. Background information CD117 (c-kit) is a receptor tyrosine kinase expressed on the majority of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, on some tissue stem cells as well as mature mast cells. Stimulation of CD117 by its ligand, the cytokine stem cell factor (SCF), is important for stem cell survival and maintance.
Downstream applications Bone marrow-derived CD117+ cells transplanted after myocardial infarction can differentiate into smooth muscle cells, myocytes, and endothelial cells in vivo3,4 . |
