| Stemfactor™ Noggin, Human Recombinant |
|
| Description |
| Noggin is a secreted homodimeric glycoprotein that binds to and inactivates members of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) superfamily of signaling proteins, such as bone morphogenetic protein-4 (BMP4). Noggin appears to have pleiotropic effects, both early in development as well as in later stages. The addition of Noggin during the culture of human embryonic stem (hES) cells in feeder-free medium supplemented with basic FGF inhibits BMP activity allowing hES cells to maintain their undifferentiated, pluripotent state. Stemfactor™ Noggin is a 65 kDa protein expressed in human cells as a glycosylated, disulfide-linked dimer. |
