| Stemgent® Purified Rabbit anti-Mouse/Human Pax6 Antibody |
|
| Description |
| The Stemgent® Purified Rabbit anti-Mouse/Human Pax-6 Antibody was screened on neural progenitors derived via directed differentiation of mouse and human ES cells. It was selected as the best Pax-6 antibody for immunocytochemistry applications. This antibody was generated against the C-terminus of the mouse Pax-6 protein, which is highly conserved among Pax-6 of various species. The protein has a predicted MW of 47-50 kDa. Pax-6 is a nuclear transcription factor essential for the development of the central nervous system, eyes, nose, and endocrine glands. The family of Pax genes encode transcriptional regulators which are major controllers of development in both vertebrates and invertebrates. The PAX protein contains two DNA-binding domains: the paired domain and the paired-type homeodomain. It is expressed in the brain and developing nervous system, and eyes. Mutations in this gene are known to cause aniridia as well as Peter's anomaly, both ocular diseases. Pax-6 is known to be required for the differentiation of pancreatic islet alpha cells, and binds to the glucagon, insulin and somatostatin promoters1-6. |
