| Anti-IL-13 – functional grade |
|
| Overview |
| This antibody is suited for in vitro functional assays, e.g. neutralization of IL-13 activity. |
| Details |
Background information Interleukin-13 (IL-13) is produced primarily by activated Th2 cells, but also by mast cells, NK cells, and dendritic cells. IL-13 exerts anti-inflammatory effects on monocytes and macrophages. Furthermore, it inhibits the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-8. IL-13 has also been shown to enhance B cell proliferation and to induce isotype switching, resulting in an increased production of IgE. IL-13, in contrast to IL-4, fails to induce Th2 cell differentiation, one of the hallmarks of the allergic response. |
