| Overview |
| RANTES stands for regulated upon activation, normal T-cell expressed and secreted, also termed C-C motif chemokine 5 (CCL5). Mouse RANTES is a recombinant protein optimized for use in cell culture, differentiation studies, and functional assays. |

Background information RANTES is a chemoattractant for monocytes, memory T cells, basophils, and eosinophils. RANTES is secreted by many cell types at inflammatory sites and acts through the binding to CCR1, CCR3, and CCR5 receptors. It causes the release of histamine from basophils and activates eosinophils. Furthermore, it can induce the proliferation and activation of killer cells known as CC-chemokine-activated killer (CHAK). RANTES-deficient mice show an impaired T cell function. Quality description Research-grade cytokines are suitable for a wide variety of cell culture applications. They are sterile-filtered prior to lyophilization. Generally, endotoxin levels are <0.1 ng/µg (<1 EU/µg), and purities are >95%. The biological activity is tested in appropriate bioassays. |
