| Description |
Clone AF12-7H3 is specific for human CD56 but also recognizes a subset of PBMCs from rhesus monkey (Macaca mulatta) and cynomolgus monkey (Macaca fascicularis). The CD56 antigen is a glycoprotein of the Ig-superfamily. The monoclonal antibody CD56 (clone AF12-7H3) recognizes the 140 kDa isoform of N-CAM (Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule) expressed in human blood on essentially all resting and activated NK cells and on a minor subset of CD3+ T cells. The monoclonal antibody AF12-7H3 recognizes a CD56 epitope which is distinct from the epitopes recognized by the CD56-specific monoclonal antibodies NCAM16.2 and B159. CD56 has been reported to be expressed on rhesus monkey monocytes and on a minor subset of CD8+CD16– NK cells. However, the vast majority of rhesus monkey NK cells do not express CD56.1,2 |
| Applications |
| The CD56 antibody can be used to identify and enumerate CD56+ cells by flow cytometry or fluorescence microscopy. |
