Description
Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is predominantly secreted by activated CD4+ memory and effector TH2 cells, basophils, and mast cells. It induces and supports humoral immune responses for the neutralization of extracellular pathogens. The TH2 types of immune mechanisms can also be involved in immunologic disorders such as IgE-mediated allergy.
Applications
This Anti-IL-4 antibody has been developed for intracellular staining of IL-4 in fixed and permeabilized cells for flow cytometric analysis. Cells can be stained in suspension or by solid-phase intracellular staining technology in combination with MACS® Separation.
Cross-reactivity
- Rhesus monkey (Macaca mulatta)
- Cynomolgus monkey (Macaca fascicularis)

Human PBMCs were incubated with or without CytoStim for six hours. After two hours, brefeldin A was added. The cells were fixed, permeabilized, and intracellularly stained with Anti-IL-4-PE. Cells were then analyzed by flow cytometry. Plots show CD4+ lymphocytes gated according to CD4-APC staining.
