Description
The CD2 antibody recognizes the human CD2 antigen, a 50 kDa single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein also known as LFA-2 or receptor for sheep erythrocytes. It reacts with 80–90% of peripheral blood lymphocytes and more than 95% of thymocytes. The antibody recognizes all T cells and a subset of NK cells. Activation and proliferation of T cells can be induced by interaction of the T cell receptor with peptide-MHC complexes expressed on the surface of APCs. The T cell receives a signal transduced through the CD3 complex. Cytokines or other costimulatory signals are required in addition. Activated T cells can be used for any downstream processes, such as cytokine analysis or immunoprecipitation.
Applications
The antibody is suitable for in vitro T cell activation and expansion in combination with CD3-Biotin, CD28-Biotin and Anti-Biotin MACSiBead™ Particles. The antibody is free of azide and preservatives. Endotoxin level is <0.01 ng/µg of protein as tested by LAL assay.
