Description
Clone 191B8 recognizes CD161, a C-type lectin membrane glycoprotein. CD161, also known as NKR-P1A, is expressed as an 80 kDa disulphide-linked homodimer and is found on most NK cells and subsets of T cells. In peripheral blood, CD161 is preferentially expressed on T cells of memory phenotype, but it can also be found on subsets of thymocytes and fetal liver T cells. CD161 has been implicated in triggering NK-mediated cytotoxicity, contributing to target cell recognition by NK cells. |
Applications
Detection and enumeration of CD161+ cells by flow cytometry or fluorescence microscopy.

Human PBMCs were stained with CD161 antibodies conjugated to FITC (A), PE (B), APC (C) or Biotin (D). Cells stained with CD161-Biotin were additionally stained with Anti-Biotin-APC. Cells were analyzed by flow cytometry.
