| Description |
Clone DX9 recognizes CD158e (KIR3DL1), a member of the killer immunoglobulin-like receptor (KIR) family expressed on CD56dimCD16+ natural killer (NK) cells and CD8+ T cells. KIRs contribute to the regulation of NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity. They are monomeric receptors possessing high allelic polymorphism with either 2 or 3 Ig-like extracellular domains. According to the length of their cytoplasmic tail, KIRs can be further subdivided in long-tailed inhibitory KIRs and short-tailed activating KIRs (KIR2DS or KIR3DS). KIR3DL1 provides an inhibitory signal of NK cell lytic activity upon interaction with its specific ligand, HLA-Bw4. |
| Applications |
| The antibody is suitable for identification and enumeration of CD158e (KIR3DL1)+ cells by flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy. |

| Figure 1 |
Human PBMCs were stained with CD158e (KIR3DL1) antibodies conjugated to FITC (A), PE (B) or APC (C), as well as with CD56 antibodies and analyzed by flow cytometry. CD158e (KIR3DL1)-Biotin–labeled cells (D) were also stained with Anti-Biotin-APC. PBMCs stained with CD158e (KIR3DL1)-APC (C) were taken from a donor heterozygous for KIR3DL1. As clone DX9 binds alleles of KIR3DL1 with differing affinities, a bimodal distribution of KIR3DL1+ NK cells is detectable in flow cytometry. This enables the detection of subpopulations of KIR3DL1+ cells. |
