Description
Clone DX27 recognizes CD158b (KIR2DL2/DL3), a member of the killer immunoglobulin-like receptor (KIR) family expressed on CD56dimCD16+ natural killer (NK) cells and CD8+ T cells. KIRs contribute to the regulation of NK cell–mediated cytotoxicity and possess high allelic polymorphism with either 2 or 3 Ig-like extracellular domains (KIR2D or KIR3D). According to the length of their cytoplasmic tail, KIRs can be further subdivided in long-tailed inhibitory KIRs (KIR2DL or KIR3DL) and short-tailed activating KIRs (KIR2DS or KIR3DS). CD158b (KIR2DL2/DL3) acts as an inhibitory receptor and binds HLA-C (Cw1, Cw3, Cw7 and Cw8 supertypes).
Applications
The antibody is suitable for identification and enumeration of CD158b (KIR2DL2/DL3)+ cells by flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy.
