| Description |
| Clone AC133 recognizes the glycosylated epitope 1 of the human CD133 antigen (CD133/1). The CD133 antigen is expressed on stem cells with hematopoietic and nonhematopoietic differentiation potential. Four monoclonal antibodies recognizing the CD133 antigen are available: clone AC133 (mouse IgG1), 293C3 (mouse IgG2b), W6B3C1 (mouse IgG1) and AC141 (mouse IgG1). These antibodies recognize two different epitopes CD133/1 (clone AC133 and W6B3C1) and CD133/2 (clone 293C3 and clone AC141), respectively. |
| Applications |
Clone AC133 is recommended for the identification and enumeration of CD133+ cells from peripheral blood, bone marrow, cord blood, or other tissues. The antibody can also be used to detect endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs). CD133/1 can also be used in immunohistochemical applications; a protocol for the staining of paraffin-embedded tissue sections is available here. It is not recommended for staining of CD133+ cells isolated with the CD133 MicroBead Kit. |
