CD45 MicroBeads
Description
CD45 MicroBeads are used for the depletion or enrichment of leukocytes from peripheral blood, lymphoid tissue, tumor tissue, or non-hematopoietic tissue. CD45 is expressed on all cells of hematopoietic origin except erythrocytes and platelets and their precursor cells.
Applications
CD45 MicroBeads have been used to enrich non-hematopoietic tumor cells from peripheral blood, bone marrow, or lymph nodes of patients by depletion of CD45+ leukocytes.1–4
Columns
For depletion: LD, CS, D, or autoMACS® Columns.

Figure 1
A cytokeratin-positive cell was enriched from bone marrow of a patient with renal carcinoma by depletion of leukocytes using CD45 MicroBeads. Cells were stained using a conventional APAAP method followed by staining with hematoxylin. (Courtesy of Dr. Bilkenroth, Dept. Pathol. and Dr. Meye, Dept. Urol., Univ. Halle, Germany.)

Enrichment of tumor cells from a mixture of PBMCs and cells of the breast cancer cell line SK-BR3 using CD45 MicroBeads.
A: Cell mixture before separation (7×106 PBMCs were spiked with 20,000 tumor cells)
