autoMACS™ Starting Kit
Description The autoMACS™ Separator is a benchtop instrument for high-speed automated cell sorting. Employing the MACS® Technology, the autoMACS Separator is designed for positive selection as well as depletion of magnetically labeled cells. The autoMACS Separator is operated with pre-set separation programs, thus, allowing optimization of cell sorting approaches according to cell abundance and the intensity of marker expression. The separated cells are immediately ready for experiments, cell analysis, or further subset sorting. Automated system cleaning allows convenient maintenance. The autoMACS Separator fits in a standard laminar flow hood or safety cabinet. • Fast—up to 4×109 magnetically labeled cells are sorted automatically within a few minutes. • Efficient—rare cells can be enriched up to 10,000-fold or unwanted cells may be depleted up to 99%. • Reliable—proven automated cell separation technology since 1999. Applications The autoMACS™ Separator has been developed for automated magnetic cell sorting under standardized conditions. It is compatible with more than 200 MACS® Cell Separation Reagents for easy and fast isolation of virtually any cell type from any species. Up to 2×108 pure target cells per sample can be isolated within minutes. Frequent cells, such as T cells, as well as rare cells, such as CD133+ stem and progenitor cells, can be efficiently separated: cells with frequencies as low as 1 in 106 total cells can be enriched to high purity. Pre-set programs allow positive selection and depletion of cells, even if the antigen used for selection is expressed at low levels. Additionally, the autoMACS Separator allows cell sorting of leukocyte subsets directly from whole blood (volumes from 0.25 mL to 3 mL). The complete compatibility of MACS Technology with flow cytometry further allows the use of the autoMACS Separator as a pre-sorter for speeding up flow cytometric cell sorting. For maximum convenience, standard MACS Buffers manufactured under tightly controlled conditions are available.
