Overview

Annexin V recognizes an antigen (externalized phosphatidylserine, EPS) in the plasma membrane of apoptotic as well as dead cells. For the depletion, cells are magnetically labeled with the MACS GMP Annexin V Reagent and passed through an MS Column. The magnetically labeled apoptotic or dead spermatozoa are retained in the column while the unlabeled living spermatozoa are collected in the flow-through for further processing.
The MACS GMP Annexin V Kit components are free of human and animal-derived components. Product specifications are confirmed by batch-specific certificates of analysis and ensure consistency of quality. The MACS GMP Annexin V Kit shows no embryo toxicity, according to the Mouse Embryo Assay (MEA).

Applications
MACS GMP Annexin V Kit is designed and optimized for the depletion of apoptotic and dead spermatozoa. The purified spermatozoa fraction may be effectively used for downstream applications. Using the MACS GMP Annexin V Kit, even early apoptotic spermatozoa with an intact cellular membrane are removed.
The enriched sperm populations show higher overall quality in terms of: morphology, motility, DNA fragmentation, apoptosis, cryosurvival rates, and fertilization potential.
