| Overview |
| The antibody is suitable for the identification and enumeration of villous M cells by flow cytometry or fluorescence microscopy as well as for immunohistochemistry (paraffin-embedded or frozen sections).1 |
| Details |
Background information Microfold cells or membranous cells (M cells) have a high transcytotic activity and play an important role in the uptake of luminal antigens for induction of antigen-specific immune responses. This antibody (clone NKM 16-2-4) specifically binds to all subsets of M cells, but not epithelial cells or goblet cells located in Peyer's patches, nasopharynx-associated lymphoid tissue, and the intestinal villi in the gastrointestinal or respiratory tracts. |

Mouse Peyer's patches were stained with Anti-Microfold (M) Cell antibodies conjugated to PE (A) or APC (B) as well as with CD45‑FITC and analyzed by flow cytometry using the MACSQuant® Analyzer. Cell debris and dead cells were excluded from the analysis based on scatter signals and propidium iodide fluorescence. |
