Powerful tools to investigate neuroimmunology

Although the central nervous system (CNS) has classically been regarded as an immunologically privileged site, vigorous interactions between immune cells and neural cells in the CNS are being unravelled shedding light on physiology, autoimmunity and neuroinflammation. We provide universal and customizable tools to easily and reliably isolate, deplete, culture and analyze immune cells of the central nervous system.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Research:
  • Isolation of CD4+ T cells from patients with baseline MS.  T cell depletion to obtain accessory cells for Treg suppression assays.1
  • Isolation of pDCs from PBMCs using BDCA-4 MicroBeads and coculturing with MACS-selected CD4+CD45RA+ T cells. Cell analysis using Miltenyi’s monoclonal antibodies for surface cellular staining (BDCA-1, 2, 3 and 4) and intracellular cytokine staining (IFN-alpha and -gamma; TNF-alpha, IL-10).2

Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) Research:
  • Isolation of naïve CD4+ T cells and generation of monocyte-derived DC after monocyte isolation with CD14 MicroBeads.3
  • CD11b and CD11c isolation for investigation of the inflammatory response in mice actively immunized with amyloid-beta 1-42.4

Parkinson’s Disease (PD) Research:
  • Isolation of T cells and B cells using indirect magnetic sorting with anti-PE MicroBeads.5

Basic Neuroimmunology:
  • Positive cell selection using antibodies targeting CD4, CD11b, CD11c, CD31 and PE coupled to MicroBeads.6
