Hematopoietic and nonhematopoietic stem and progenitor cells
Cell separation
MACS® Technology enables the efficient isolation of mouse hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells from bone marrow. These cells are negative for lineage commitment markers (lin–) and positive for Sca-1 and CD117 (c-kit). For the separation of long-term repopulating hematopoietic stem cells (LTR-HSCs), the CD105 MultiSort Kit (PE) can be used in conjunction with the Anti-Sca-1 MicroBead Kit (FITC).
CD117 (c-kit) and Sca-1 expression is also found on a variety of stem cells from bone marrow with nonhematopoietic differentiation potential, as well as on tissue-specific stem cells. Sca-1 is expressed by stem and progenitor cells found in cardiac tissue1, mammary gland tissue2, skin, lung, muscle, and testis.
Miltenyi Biotec offers various products for the isolation of these cells: Please click here if you are interested in products for neural stem and progenitor cells.
Cell analysis
Miltenyi Biotec offers various antibodies for fluorescence analysis of mouse stem and progenitor cells, such as fluorochrome-conjugated Anti-Sca-1, CD117, and Anti-Prominin-1 antibodies as well as the Lineage Cell Detection Cocktail-Biotin.
